Beverly was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 21, 1936. She grew up in Kansas City, raised by her parents Wilson and Lucille Lasater, along with her younger brother Jack. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she graduated with her degree in business. She was a proud and lifelong member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. While pursuing her Masters, she was offered her dream job with JCPenney's, so she left to pursue a career. She was stationed in both Honolulu, Hawaii and Denver, Colorado before she returned to Kansas City.
This is where she met her future husband, Jim Mitchell, who happened to work for her father at Lasater Ford in Buckner, Missouri. They were married for 49 years before Jim's passing. They raised four boys, David, Robert, Christopher, and James.
Beverly was a devoted mother. Her life was spent taking her children from one soccer practice to the next and on and on. She encouraged her children to be the best they could be.
Survivors include her sons Robert (wife Helen, daughter Faith), Christopher, and James (wife Laura, daughters Finley, Wyatt, and Carson). She was preceded in death by her eldest son David (son Brent).
