In addition to the garden center, they also owned a small engine repair shop; and sold wood and coal. In 1988, they transitioned to owning the Blue and Grey Country Store in Lone Jack, Mo. They owned the business until 2000, when she retired. On February 18, 2008, Ray passed away. They were married for 49 years. In 2010, Bev moved into John Knox Village. She made many friends and enjoyed visiting time with them, spending time with the staff, watching and learning about the different birds, playing games, putting puzzles together and entertaining her family.
As Bev’s health began to deteriorate, her son Mike and daughter Leigh advocated for her, made sure she was comfortable, and were comforting her. She left this world surrounded by love and peace.
