Brenda Alice Stremel was 71 and a resident of Leawood, Kansas. She passed away on November 6th 2021. She’s survived by her siblings, Teresa Stremel of Overland Park, KS, Philip Stremel and Greg Stremel of Joplin, MO and Katrina Stremel Goddard of Ashville, NC; as well as five nieces, nephews, and one greatniece. Her husband Tom Jalonack whom she married on August 22, 2009 resides at their home in Leawood.
Brenda was born December 16, 1949 in Greeley, Colorado, the 2nd child of five to Marguerite Elva (Sharp) Stremel and Leonard William Stremel. Her parents moved to Granby, Missouri in 1951 and then to Joplin, Missouri in 1962 raising their family there.
Brenda attended school at Granby, elementary, St Peter’s elementary, and McAuley High School starting in 1963 and graduating in 1967; she then went on to school at St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas graduating in 1971 with a BA in Elementary education.
After graduation from college Brenda began her career working and living in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked as a substitute teacher for a year; but due to a shortage of teaching opportunities she found a career path working in laboratories as a Histotechnologist. She worked at various labs from 1972 until her retirement in April of 2018 from Midwest Pathology Associates. She always deeply felt a sense of duty to her work, and to the patients she was serving in the processing of their biopsy’s. She left her work happy to be retired, but sad to leave the close relationships of the friends she worked with.
If you knew her, you loved her. Her welcoming and sweet disposition put people at ease. She would often be the first person to welcome a stranger, bring them in the mix and introduce them to people. She was a quiet person with a reserved nature. She loved to organize events and was the family hub; a sounding board for parties and events. She was a good wife and friend, my partner, confidant and guide. Together we strengthened each other, our church was our foundation, love was our bond. Oh, Dear God how we miss her; and I’m sure we always will. The world has gotten smaller and our heart has lost a piece of it that Brenda has taken with her. She was our joy and still is. Remember us dear Brenda, and sing God’s praise with the Saints and Angels. We love you.
