

Dr. Buford T. Casebolt, 82, passed away at Kingswood Senior Living Community in Kansas City, MO, December 2, 2010. Visitation will be Friday, December 10, from 6-9 p.m., and a funeral service on Saturday, December 11, at 11 a.m., at McGilley Memorial Chapels, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO. Dr. Casebolt is survived by four sons: Dr. Buford K. Casebolt D.D.S., Osceola, MO, Joseph M. Casebolt and Anthony D. Casebolt, both of Kansas City, and Bryan Casebolt, of Grand Forks, ND; four grandchildren: Benjamin, Rachel, Jason, and Andrew Casebolt, of Kansas City; a brother, Dr. John M. Casebolt MD, in Lincoln, NE; and six nephews. His parents, and his sister, Mary Ann Bergmann, preceded him in death. Dr. Casebolt was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 15, 1928, to Dr. Milton B. and Geneva Casebolt.
As a teenager, he was an Eagle Scout, and later a warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O- Say. He received a BA degree in history from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, in 1947 and a BS degree in Medicine from Missouri University, Columbia, Missouri, in 1949. Dr. Casebolt received his MD degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1951. His 12-month internship at General Hospital in Kansas City began in 1951. His residency in General Surgery at Kansas City General Hospital, began in 1952 and completed in 1958. His surgical residency was interrupted for two years, while serving as a medical officer with the US Army in Korea. Dr. Casebolt was certified by the American Board of Surgery, and was a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Casebolt practiced Surgery in Kansas City for 16 years. In 1974, he relocated his surgical practice to the Valley Medical Group in Grand Forks, ND, and retired in 1986. In 1992, Dr. Casebolt moved to Flint, TX, making his home on Lake Palestine. In 2009, he relocated his home to Kingswood Senior Living Community in Kansas City, MO. While in Kansas City, Dr. Casebolt was first horn in the French horn section of the Medical Arts Symphony. In Grand Forks, ND, he played horn in the Grand Forks Symphony, the Grand Forks City Band, American Legion Band, and the Shrine Band. In Tyler, he played horn in the Community Band, in the horn club, and occasionally in church services. While in Texas, Dr. Casebolt was a member of Tyler Lodge 1233, Sharon Temple, the Royal Order of Jesters, There, he was an active member of Marvin United Methodist Church, and served on the Administrative Board. Dr. Casebolt enjoyed his sons, grandchildren, a good friend, fishing, hunting, traveling, playing bridge, and playing the French Horn. Memorials can be given to the Wesley Charitable Foundation sponsored by Kingswood.
