Carmen G. Cecena, 86 of Lenexa, KS died Friday at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 Thursday, February 23 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Avenida Cesar Chavez, KCMO. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, February 22 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO.
Carmen was born April 24, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to Raphael and Juana (Montoya) Garcia. A good daughter, she took care of her siblings as they grew. She married Richard Cecena June 24, 1951 and to this union, three children were born, Richard (Mary) Cecena, Jr., KCMO, Laura (Charles) Rivera, KCMO and Janice Vaca, Lenexa, KS. As a good mom would, she attended almost all of her kids events when they were growing up. She made the most wonderful tamales that she turned into a whole family event. In addition to her parents, Carmen was preceded in death by siblings, Paul Garcia, Raphael Garcia and Lulu Garcia. In addition to her children, her survivors include six grandchildren and 11 grandchildren with one on the way
