My First Best friend 

Carol Hernandez, a loving mother, sister, cousin, and grandmother. My grandmother was my whole world. I loved her more than life its self. Every minute we could spend together was the best time in my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and miss her dearly.  She was my first best friend. 
While growing up my grandmother was always sick so my mother and I would always take care of her. She had suffered from heart failure and diabetes so we always had to check up on her and take her to doctor's appointments. So I was always with her, everyday after I got home from school she would always greet my sister and I with the biggest of smiles and fullest of laughs. Anytime I could I would always ask to stay with her even though we lived about 10 minutes away I hated being away from her. She would always want the best for me and my sister so she would always spoil us with treats and toys to hugs and kisses. But I remember every year she would only get even more sicker than before. Not long after she was put in a hospital because she broke her elbow and her heart wasn't doing so well. I was so scared I always thought that she would be there forever and she would never leave me, but I forgot that's not how life works. On February 26, 2014 I felt my world be crushed.
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was in English class and we were making art when I suddenly got a call from the front desk to go home. I didn't question it thinking nothing was wrong. I went out just expecting my mom or dad but for some reason my aunt was there too. I was curious why she was there but I was glad she was because I never got to see her much. After we left the school we headed straight to the hospital and my stomach dropped I hoped and prayed that it wasn't what I thought it was. My dad brought us to a room wall to wall with couches and tissues, he kneeled down to my and my sisters level and looked into our eyes and said Girls, I need you to listen grandma got really sick, and being the little kid that I was I cut in But she's always sick dad, but she'll get better right? He looked away with tears in his eyes and I though this can't be thins can't be how it ends' He replied  No, She won't becoming back this time and at that exact moment my world was crushed. I could feel my heart break into a million pieces; my stomach in my throat, and my ears began to ring. My body went limp as I feel onto the floor I began to scream No! No, she has to be ok! It's a dream! Wake me up! Wake me up! 
Over the next few days I was numb I couldn't feel anything except the wet tears that stained my face. Everywhere I went I couldn't look anyone in the eye, the day of her funeral I didn't go to see her be buried. I wouldn't allow myself believe that she was dead and I would never be able to see her again.. I couldn't believe that it was really happening. Especially to me, my best friend in the whole world gone. 
Over the next few years it took me time to relies that everything happens for a reason and that God has a plan for every one so I had to deal until it is my time to go and be with her once again. I always blamed myself that she was angry at me because I didn't see her be buried and that I ever looked at her grave. It took me about two years to finally accept it and go see her grave. It wasn't until a little later that I made a quote that I tell my self every time I think of her  Whenever you go to a garden you always pick the prettiest of flowers

I wrote this on your birthday...Mom: This would have been your big 6-0 birthday "month." Words can't express how much you're missed, but I know you're with us. I hear you every time we're together, your humor, laughter and so much more. So we're "marching 4th (not backwards)" to be "Mexi-CANS (not Mexi-cant's)" in your honor. Your "baby girls ( Lisa Hernandez- Gonzalez, Gloria Hernandez, Dolores Hernandez, Julia Hernandez, Mari and Bridget)" understand sometimes "life's not fair," and your "baby boys (Ricardo T. Hernandez, Ricky Jesus H, Tim Fonseca, David and Dad)" certainly wish you were "cured." Either way, we don't doubt that "you don't know me" was a statement you said facetiously, because we know you and love you more than any of us can comprehend ❤. That's "damn straight!" So "salud" to you "mamacita," "mama," "baby boy," "honey" or any other term of endearment you are known for and to your other "Carolisms" that continue to make us smile.

Rick(Cuz) and family it is sad to hear that we loss Carol but knowing she will always be looking over us is a great feeling and I'm sure every now and then that smile will shine on us when it's needed most. God Bless you at the hardest time of your life  losing your best friend.

When others resented my presence, she was the first to welcome me with open arms and an open heart. I will miss her laugh, her humor, and her love of life.

Carol was a beautiful, wonderful and loving person. She had a laugh and a smile that made a room so bright. If we had a problem we couldnt solve she would give us advise. My sympathy goes to your Family Rick and ours. May God give your family comfort and strenght. Love u Carol going to miss you.

It is with great sadness that I am writing these few words of sympathy to Rick and to the rest of Carol's beloved family. I will truly miss my very good friend who was very loving and sincere not just to me, but to everyone she met. She would light up the room with her beautiful smile. If she were hurting inside you never knew it. She is with family now and will forever be a guardian angel to her family here on earth.

I am so sorry to hear about Carol. I just saw her with her daughter at Souza's, we had the best talk, she was asking about my boys, I was telling her I am going to Cali and that she could watch me on FB... She was always loving and caring and so funny... I will miss her dearly... SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS

I was Blessed to be part of a three some of friends at STA and beyond. Carol, Martha, and I. So many incredible memories. It was never hard to spot Carol on campus...we just followed her laugh. I took Carol to see Martha just weeks before Martha died and we had so much fun laughing and telling stories. I miss you both now and will forever. Thank you for being a part of my life Carol.
