

(Carol) Lynn Dale passed on to heaven peacefully at her home on September 23, 2014. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St., Shawnee, KS from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 with a funeral Mass immediately following.
Lynn was born in North Platte, NE on October 18, 1929 to Robert and Dorothy Holcomb and was the older of two children. Her father was a retail store manager and she lived in many parts of the country until going to high school in Cheyenne, WY. After high school she attended Rockford College. She married Bill Maese in 1950 and to this union were born three children. The family relocated to Kansas City, KS in 1957. In addition to raising her own three she took care of foster children for Catholic Charities for many years. When her children were in junior high Lynn went to work in the insurance business. She retired in the mid-1970s. She married Robert Dale in 1973 and spent many happy years with Bob until his passing in 2009. Lynn was a parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church serving in the usher and greeting ministries. She also assisted in caring for the church plants.
Lynn loved to read. She read to her children, the neighborhood children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to travel and visited most of the U.S. and the United Kingdom. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents and sister, Judy Holcomb, and her husband, Robert Dale. She is survived by her sisters Sharon (George) Hawkins, Jayne (David) Johnson; children, daughter Robyn, sons Brook (Patrice) and Will (Janice); stepchildren, Sherry (Joe) Cusamano and children Gina and Vince, Yvonne (Bruce) Bradley and children Sean, Rodney and Chris; her grandchildren Tierney (Justin) Parker, Adam (Lisa) Maese, Luke (Jessica) Maese, Nick (Kate) Maese, Libby Maese; and her great-grandchildren Devon Lujan, Colby and Quincy Parker, and Clayton Maese.
The family would to thank Father Jim Ludwikoski of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Hospice, and Lynn’s good friend Ruby McCrary who made her last weeks as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn’s name to Covenant House-(Opening Doors for Homeless Youth) at www.covenanthouse.org or a children’s charity of your choice.
