

Carolyn J. (McHenry) Stillwell was born in Butler, MO on December 20, 1944 and passed away December 21, 2021 at the age of 77 years after a lengthy illness. She is survived by significant other and caregiver, John Sims, of Kansas City, MO; two sons Leroy M. Conner and Jeffrey W. Stillwell; three grandsons, one great grandson; one brother Stanley J. McHenry of Butler, MO; two sisters Linda L. Noble and husband Gary, of Independence, MO; and Sylvia M. Lyman and husband Gilbert, of Butler, MO; sister-in-law Kathleen McHenry, of Raymore, MO; former daughter-in-law Shauna Stillwell; uncle Jerry McGlauglin and wife Judy, of Holden, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Stanley A. and Bessie L. (Sanford) McHenry; two brothers James E. McHenry and Marvin A. McHenry; and one sister Marie J. McHenry.
Carolyn grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Raytown High School. She worked several jobs in her lifetime including as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell, a Craft Department Manager at the Ben Franklin Store and Graystone Graphics Design/Printing. She was a Christian and formerly attended Blue View Chapel in Independence, MO. Being the oldest daughter of seven children, she helped care for her younger siblings during the summer months when their mom returned to work at St. Luke's Hospital. Her good sense of humor came in handy. She played jacks and basketball with her siblings, and enjoyed being outside during the summertime. She enjoyed crocheting, teaching her nieces her skill. Carolyn created clothing designs by sketching women's clothing from ideas in clothing catalogs and had an eye for the colors that she coordinated with her designs. She was meticulous with her hair and makeup. She liked country music, animals (especially dogs and cats), road trips and Silver Dollar City.
Visitation will be 9am, followed by funeral services at 10am, Monday, December 27, 2021 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
