Clara, the eldest of four children, was born on June 22, 1937, to Theodore and Lydia (Graf) Goeckeler in Kansas City, MO. Clara graduated from Westport High School in 1955. After graduating she went to work for Phoenix Box & Label Company and worked there on and off for many years. Clara met the love of her life, Robert Lewis Poole on a blind date through a friend. They were married May 11, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. Together they had four children; Glen, Mark, Karen and Tim. In addition to raising her children, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for all three of her sons, worked as a notary public, and cleaned houses. Clara was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church.
Clara became interested in genealogy. She loved researching her family history and was proud of her German heritage. She took a trip to Germany in 1990 with her sister Darlene to meet many of their family members.
She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her hard work, her thoughtfulness, her love of family, and as a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She always remembered everyone’s birthday with a card.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, Robert; one brother, Ted Goeckeler, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia (Long) Goeckeler, Judy (Bickel) Goeckeler and two grandchildren, Alexis and Sloan Poole.
She is survived by her children, Glen (Deonna) Poole, Mark (Jennifer) Poole, Karen Cummickel, Tim Poole; grandchildren, Chris (Amanda) Poole, Katie (Russell) Booher, Matthew Poole, Kayla Cummickel, Crystal (Kody Wasson) Poole, Kenda Cummickel; great grandson, Matt Poole; sister, Darlene (Bill) Norman and brother, Fred Goeckeler, and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.
