

Clark Gerald Redick, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Clark was one of three sons born to Gerald Sain Redick and Ruth McDaniel in Columbus, Ohio; all three sons became attorneys. The family divided their time between the family residence, their lake cottage and the family farm, "Valley Brook," now known as Redick Park.
Clark attended public school, where he became an Eagle Scout in the first post to be all Eagle in the U.S. He earned his BA Degree in Political Science at Principia College, in Elsah, IL, and served on his House Governing Board. His Law Degree was earned at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, and upon graduation, he entered the Graduate School at Ohio State University, where he studied foreign affairs.
In 1963, Clark was appointed an Assistant Attorney General of Ohio. Soon after, he was named Administrative Assistant to the Attorney General. He was a contributing author for two legal books and lectured extensively throughout Ohio, principally at the Ohio Legal Center for Continuing Education. He was an expert in the Law of Arrest and Seizure, and taught the subject to more than 2000 law enforcement officials and police. Clark argued 9 cases in the Ohio Supreme Court, and litigated Ohio's first Civil Rights cases. He was also Counsel for the Ohio Development Department, Ohio Racing Commission, and the State Housing Board. He was appointed by the Ohio Governor to be Counsel for the Ohio Public Utilities Commission.
In 1965, Clark married Jeanne Hastings, whom he had met in undergraduate school, and they had three children.
Clark then joined the legal staff of the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Cleveland. From there, he joined the Legal Department of AT&T in New York as Chief Labor Counsel, Benefits Counsel, and Equal Employment Counsel. He organized and coordinated the testimony of 22 telephone operating companies, two unions, 6 federal agencies, and thousands of litigants in AT&T's major equal employment and equal pay case before the FCC. Following this case, he consulted for several other large corporations, such as GM in their similar cases.
In 1989, Clark joined what was then Utilicorp United, as Senior Vice President/Operations. During this period, he served as Chairman of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, as well as serving on 19 Non-Profit Boards, 7 Corporate Advisory Boards, and several Corporate Boards in the US and Canada. He also served as Chairman of The Salvation Army's Christmas Campaign.
In 1992, Clark was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel for a company in Miami embroiled in litigation involving the Alaskan Pipeline, and a second case involving a riot case at a Boston Patriot Super Bowl Game. Over his lifetime, he was admitted to the bars in Ohio, Missouri, New York, The Supreme Court, and several lower federal courts. He loved all the challenges and unique experiences that evolved in his ever changing practice of corporate law.
Clark was a past member and president of The Kansas City Club, The Shadow Glen Golf Club, Saddle and Sirloin Club, and long time member of The Carriage Club. He was also a member of Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist.

ur family will sorely miss Clark's dry humor, his passion for politics, his intellect, his love of the stock market and investments, and his sound advice; but most of all, his devotion to and love for all of us.
Clark is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Tyler; and a brother, John Philip. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; a daughter, Kristen; a son, Scott and wife Kathy; one granddaughter, Claire; and a brother, Glenn and wife Mindy.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 10 a.m., in McGilley Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO, with a reception following. Burial will be in Dayton, OH.
