

Connelly “Mac” N. McDaniel, Jr. was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 19, 1945, to Elizabeth (Bessie) and Connelly McDaniel. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and his love of all things KC was passed on to his children.
Mac graduated from Northeast High School where he was a member of the ROTC program. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969 and was stationed in Thailand as a B-52 bomb loader during the Vietnam war. He was then stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas where he met his wife, Linda. They were married in Blytheville in 1969.
Mac and Linda lived in Kansas City where they raised four children. He worked as an accountant and manager for different divisions of International Harvester for 45 years. Mac received his bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University and later received his Master’s of Accounting, from Webster University.
Mac was a devout Christian and a member of Vivion Road Church of Christ for over 50 years, serving as an Elder, Deacon and Treasurer at different times.
Mac loved anything related to baseball and spent many nights cheering on the KC Royals with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing sports, family picnics and dinners, listening to the Beach Boys, spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. Mac loved talking about classic cars and could identify any car from pictures sent by his family. He worked on cars and the house with his kids, teaching them the importance of good maintenance. He collected all things Dr. Pepper and joined the Dr. Pepper 10-2-4 Collectors’ Club in 2001. He used his visits to the annual convention to spend more time with his Texas grandchildren.
Mac passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jimmy and newborn sister Karen.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda McDaniel; his children: Caroline (DeWitt) Oleinik, Stephanie (Paul) Summers, Daphne (Eric) Kolb, Bryce (Liz) McDaniel; his grandchildren: Jennie (Matthew) McDonald, Thomas (Laura) Oleinik, Timothy Oleinik, Landon and Elise Summers, Brandon and Justin Kolb; a great-granddaughter on the way; his siblings and their spouses, Lucy (Gary) Clark, and Robert (Nancy) McDaniel; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1pm at Vivion Road Church of Christ, 2026 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, Missouri, with a funeral service following at 2pm.
