

Consuelo "Connie" Padilla Gutierrez, 94, of Kansas City Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Connie was born on July 18, 1928, to Felix and Teresa (Ramos) Padilla in Topeka, Kansas. She was a loving mother, wife, friend, and had a large extended family whom she loved to entertain. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, she smiled and said, “That I was a nice young lady! That I always thought of my kids along the way. A good person, good mother, and good wife. And that I was super-duper! Don’t forget that!” She loved hosting parties, entertaining, and dancing. Connie was the absolute best when it came to cooking and baking. She spent countless hours in the kitchen creating delicious meals and treats for family and friends which she enjoyed so much. She gave selflessly to all making everyone feel loved and welcome in her home. Connie was also a successful hairstylist and owned Birchwood Beauty Salon and Nina’s Hair Design in Kansas City for many years before retiring to Arizona. She loved God, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she opens her mouth with wisdom, and teaching kindness is on her tongue.” Prov. 31:25a, 26
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Teresa Padilla, her brothers Marcelino Padilla, Rodrigo Padilla, and Felix Padilla, her sisters Mary (Padilla) Ortiz, Lupe (Padilla) Alonzo, and Alicia (Padilla) Rios. Connie is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence R. Gutierrez, Sr., daughter Deborah Hall and her husband Mike, son Lawrence R. Gutierrez, Jr., son Marcel Gutierrez and his wife Denise, daughter Nina Goulet and her husband John. She also is survived by her grandchildren Barbara Barr, Danny Howell and his wife Tammy, Stevan Gutierrez and his wife Dani, Carly Gutierrez Beckett and her husband Cooper, Christian Beck and his wife Deborah, and Kirsten Beck Haley and her husband Ryan, great-grandchildren Mason Howell, Marcie Gutierrez, Elisha Beck, and baby boy Beckett on the way. Connie (Mom) will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:15 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 am on January 23, 2023 in Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
