Constance “Connie” Weaver was born on February 20, 1930, the second of three daughters of Laurine Haldiman and Alexander Meyer. After attending Southwest High School and the University of Missouri, where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta, Connie married Warren Weaver in 1951. They were happily married for sixty-five years, until Warren’s death in 2017. Connie and Warren were stationed in Baltimore while Warren served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Connie and Warren returned and settled in Kansas City, raising their two daughters, Susan and Carrie. It was her greatest joy to be a loving wife and caring parent, often hosting gatherings for family and friends. Connie was a dedicated volunteer with commitments to Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior League of Kansas City, Kappa Alpha Theta, Girl Scouts, School Committees, St. Andrew’s Altar Guild, and St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary. Sewing, needlepoint, knitting, and listening to classical piano were also pastimes that she enjoyed.
Although not adventurous by nature, Connie cherished the time spent on family vacations with everyone together. She was an extraordinary hands-on grandparent, tracking down all Christmas and birthday wish list items.
Connie was preceded in death by her two sisters, Maryanna and Sandy, husband, Warren, and daughter, Susan. She is survived by her daughter, Caroline (Carrie) Smart, son-in-law, John Smart, grandchildren, Ashley Weaver, Jeffrey(Kiley) Smart, Gregory Smart, and Douglas(Jessie) Smart.
Connie passed away peacefully in Overland Park, Kansas, at Waveny Park House, SeniorCare-Homes. A special thanks to the devoted caregivers and team at Waveny Park House and Ascend Hospice.
