Dave was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and mentor. He treasured spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, the Chiefs, gardening, creating handmade woodworking pieces, and was an award winning barbecue competitor. He was extremely hardworking, funny, and kind.
Dave made friends everywhere he went, and would dedicate an entire day to helping you with whatever project you may have, asking nothing in return. He was greatly admired by many for his work ethic, consideration for others, and jovial nature. He was extremely intelligent, creative, and perfectionistic, mapping out new contraptions to solve a problem and building them by hand. Many may know him from his famous Inky boxes, a small business he created where he designed and built custom aquarium equipment, combining his love of aquariums and knack for ingenuity.
While Dave had much to be proud of in his own accomplishments, his greatest pride was his daughter and grandchildren. He adored being a father and grandfather. He was playful and loving, and shared so much wisdom with his daughter. He was the softball coach for his daughter’s team and had such a positive effect on the lives of all the young ladies he coached. His grandchildren would always ask when he was coming over, and they loved watching his “grandpa magic” tricks and climbing on him like their personal jungle gym. Dave was truly an excellent role model for his child and grandchildren to look up to.
Dave recently celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary with his wife in Hawaii. They spent the time reflecting on their happy years together and planning for many more to come. They adored being involved parents and grandparents and enjoyed many hobbies together through the years, including bowling leagues and football cookouts. Dawn and Dave frequently enjoyed doing random acts of kindness on their date nights, including paying for veterans meals.
Dave is survived by his sisters, Nancy and Terry, his stepmom Esther, his wife Dawn, his daughter Kylie, his granddaughter Nova, and his grandson Atlas. Dave was taken from us too soon, and the space he leaves behind is immense. He led a wonderful life and will be greatly missed by so many. Thank you all for adding to his life story here.
