My good friend Dave was a very social person. In fact, he was the straw that stirred the drink of most every get together. As a great “sport”, he was always willing to take part in anything humorous to  keep  the event lively. I miss my buddy as do many, many others. 

Laurie and I lived caddy-corner (2nd house) from David and Kay. He and I were very good friends and talked to each other 2-3 times a week. We had a lot in common, both being veterans, gardening, always looking for a bargain, tending to each other’s house and gardens when we went on vacation, etc. David always had a positive attitude, smile on his face and a genuine love of life. He was one of my best Christian friends and I will miss him every day. Jim Darrah 

Dave was always a pleasure to be around. He was inquisitive and genuinely interested in the people he encountered.  Our friendship with him through Adena was always a joy!  He was such an amazing father and a sweet grandpa. His kind, loving, and upbeat spirit shined through his smile.  We will miss him.

My wife and I live next door to Kay and Dave.  On Sunday evening, we found ourselves in utter sadness upon learning of Dave’s passing.  We drive past the house, looking for Dave’s wave or big grin.  Dave will truly be missed.
  
Over the years, Dave and I have had numerous conversations, in the yard, at the mailbox, or shoveling snow together.  Dave enjoyed life and loved to laugh.  He was always offering to help.  I mentioned an issue with one of my motorcycles and he quickly offered to take the carburetor apart.  I mentioned possibly buying a pressure washer and Dave offered to lend me his.  That is just the type of guy Dave was, always eager and willing to serve and assist others.

It was so routine to look over and see Dave working in his gardens or tinkering around in his garage.  It seemed that Dave was always busy with something.  He was just so full of life.   Another common sight was seeing Dave and Kay in the driveway playing with their grandchildren, doting on them to keep them happy and safe.  You could see Dave’s love for them, and they kept Dave young as well.

We will miss Dave very much.  Kay, if you or the kids need help with anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Didn't know Dave that long but we connected by telling stories at Dr Bowles house parties. Service members have a bond no matter what branch they served in I miss him already. His knowledge seemed endless. I don't think there was ever a challenge he couldn't overcome. He could fix anything! Condolences to his wife Kay an his kids. Terrence Wright 

Dave and I first met in 1977 when he returned to Kansas City after his military deployment in Viet Nam. We lost track of one another after I moved away in 1978. However, we renewed our friendship and our families spent a great deal of time together after we returned to Kansas City in 1996. 

To say that Dave was a good friend and great person would be more than an understatement. 

I think that Dave was a person that chose to be interested in others just as much as he was interesting to others. 

Certainly, he frequently and proudly spoke about his grandchildren....as he should have. He was so very proud of Kay, Adena and Jeffery and absolutely glowed when he spoke of them. 

Yet, Dave had a very genuine concern for the welfare of others outside of his own family. During the course of conversation, he would ask people about how things were going for them. Initially, I thought he was prying a bit much.  Not so. He had a very honorable reason for doing so. 

He spent each of his mornings going on a two mile walk during which he prayed for all those he had spoken to and needed a helping hand in life. No doubt, David's passing will leave a very large void in our personal life and that of so very many others. 

My wife and I consider it a great honor to have spent Dave's last evening on Earth with him and his lovely wife, Kay. 

 

David was our next door neighbor when we were in Timber Hills from 2008-2015 and he was honestly one of the nicest people we have ever met. He always had a smile, a story and loved seeing and talking to our boys as well as talking about his wife, kids and grandkids and about his garden and his softball team. He was proud of his service to country and a Purple Heart veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was an incredible neighbor, a truly  great man and we know he will be missed so much.  Our thoughts and prayers are with David and all of his family.  God Bless.

David was such a good good friend and customer at Hy-Vee,  where we met.  He must  have asked me a dozen times to "just come out and practice with his softball buddies",  knowing that I would be hooked. I finally agreed and had such a great time.

Come to find out a lot of the players were recruited by David. He really loved being together and competing each week.  He always greeted us with his child-like enthusiasm,  handing out bubble gum, so excited to see everyone.  

My condolences go out to his family, so sorry for your loss. Enter into your well deserved rest my friend knowing we will be together again sometime.  

Mr. Dave, as I always referred to him, was a fellow Army Veteran and we always shared stories of places we were stationed while on active duty.  I will miss our conversations at the mailbox. Rest well soldier. I know you will always have my six. 😥🇺🇲

So many great memories of David.  I got privilege of knowing "Lewis" by being his favorite tennis partner for the last 10 years.  He was always 100% in everything he did!
He loved spending time with his family, playing sports with friends, telling NAM stories and getting discount dinners 😂
His love for God was something he shared often and as much as he will be missed, I know he is rejoicing with his Savior.  So thankful for his friendship and praying for his wonderful family 🙏

My deepest sympathies to Adena and family. I did not know David. Yet I  felt like I did from being Adena’s friend. So many happy stories were shared with me.

Our prayers and love are with you all.  We treasures many sweet memories of vacations at Horn Creek and hiking at the Appalachian Trail.

David was a great neighbor, an awesome person, and an amazing man.  He will be greatly missed by many of us, that live in in ‘Timber Hills’ Subdivision….and know David as a good friend.  He would walk around the neighborhood every morning, and he would always brighten your day…..with a meaningful conversation, or even a smile and a wave.
