Dolliver “Dolly” Beatrice Iverson was born August 10, 1945, in Richmond, Missouri. She was the first-born child of William Henry Washington and Faye Katherine Campbell. At an early age the family moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where Dolliver attended the Leavenworth Public Schools, graduating from Leavenworth Senior High School in 1962.
Dolliver loved the Lord, His word and singing praises unto His name. She was an active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Leavenworth, KS. She sang in multiple choirs and was one of the founding members of New Harvest Gospel Choir of Leavenworth, as well as These Are They in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dolliver's professional career entailed her dedicated service as a federal employee working at the Post Exchange, the Veteran's Administration, the Federal Penitentiary, the Department of Justice, and the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 2000. Dolliver also had an entrepreneurial spirit. She obtained her real estate license, was a licensed nail technician, and a Mary Kay consultant to name a few of her business ventures.
In April 2001, she married James Iverson. They relocated to New Port Richey, Florida where they were active members of Union Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed other activities in the community. Upon their return to the Kansas City area in 2012, they were members of Allen Chapel A.M.E Church, Kansas City, KS.
Dolliver was an extremely devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter who truly exemplified grace, humility, love and compassion in all aspects of her life. Her energy, enthusiasm, loyalty, kindness, forgiving nature and commitment in everything she did were unrivaled. She had an adventurous spirit, loved to travel and meet people. She was never a stranger. Her excellence was motivational and remarkable. She made the world a better place to be, for her and those around her. Dolliver loved life and drew the most she could from it. She lived her life well and is an example of how we should treat others. The loss of this truly unique and remarkable woman is immeasurable.
Dolliver was preceded in death by her husband, James Iverson; her parents; and her grandmother and namesake, Dolliver Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, LaVetta Taylor, Nichelle (Maurice) Taylor-Griffin, and Terrence (Melinda) Taylor; eight grandchildren, Jay (Alexis) Taylor, Alishia (Shawn) Hicks-Varner, Janay Davis, Faedra Silverio, Coran Taylor, Alexandria Taylor, Elijah Taylor, Jadan Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Kayden London, Serenity Birdsong, Karter Smith; six sisters, Juanzetta (Ellis) McGee, Yvonne Walker, Linda Waters, Sherry Washington, Vickie (Randall) Love, Cheryl (James) Pitman; two brothers, Floyd Washington and Willliam Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Dolliver will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
