
Mr. Caldwell was born on September 27, 1924 in St Louis, MO. He grew up in the Brookside area of Kansas City, MO. and graduated from Paseo High School in May of 1943. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy during WWll. Mr. Caldwell was the Boatswains Mate second class on a mine sweeper in the South Pacific. He was married on August 4, 1951 to Audrey Olson Caldwell of Denver, Colorado for 45 years until her death in 1997. He lived most of his life in Overland Park, Kansas until October 2013 when he went to live near his daughter in Midlothian, Virginia.
Mr. Caldwell was hard working, devoted to his family and friends and committed to ensuring that his family’s life was the best that it could be. He worked for Montgomery Wards for 40 years. His final position prior to his retirement in 1987 was National Decorative Fabric Pool Manager.
He will be deeply missed by his family who have always considered him “their Rock” during times of great joy and times of great sadness.
Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Olson Caldwell, his sisters Mariellen Deveney and Glen Hansen. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Caldwell Calautti and her husband William F. Calautti, (Midlothian, VA), his grandson John Caldwell Flowers, his wife Kelly, their son and Mr. Caldwell’s great grandson Lowry Caldwell, (Houston, TX), his granddaughter Kate Flowers Satterfield and her husband Michael, (Kansas City, MO), and his step grandchildren, Stacey and Greg Largent, (Philadelphia, PA), Jenna Calautti, (Vienna, VA), and Valerie Calautti, (Richmond, VA). He also leaves behind his niece Marie Deveney and family, (Ann Arbor, MI) and nephew Steve Hansen and family, (Longboat Key FL).
The Visitation will be Sunday, June 18th, time 3:00-4:30 PM, McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m., Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9405 Mission Rd., Leawood, KS 66206.
