Donald Bruce Orrell

Don and his wife Geraldine (Schrag) Orrell, lived in Raytown, Missouri, until a few years ago when they moved to Lawrence to be nearer to family. They were married nearly 70 years when Geraldine passed away earlier this year on January 12, 2024.

Don served in the US Navy during the Korean war. He spent his career as an engineer with Western Electric and AT&T. Don was also a member of the Raytown, MO school board, a volunteer for the Telephone Pioneers, and a member of both the Raytown Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He volunteered at the CHARM shop, making therapeutic devices for physically impaired children. He was a very active church member throughout his life.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; parents, William Exum and Velda Lucille (Logan) Orrell; and both of his children, Barton Jay and Susanne Kay Orrell.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence; the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Donald at Lawrence Memorial Hospital; and the nurses from Visiting Nurses Association who eased his passing.
