Reflections of the Life of Dorothea Calvert, she was born on December 19th 1981 in Kansas City Kansas, to Bruce and Shirley Calvert. As the third child born into the family, Dorothea graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 2001, with vocational training in Culinary Arts, she loved to cook. She also graduated from Beauty College in Overland Park, Ks. in 2010
At 3 months she was blessed by Rev. Weatherspoon of Good Samaritan Baptist Church, in KCMO. At age 7 she became a member of Eastside C.O.G.I.C. in Topeka, Ks., during this time she was in the choir, and had a naturally talent for playing the drums at a young age. Dorothea also loved to dance and started praise dancing with her little sister Shirlmarie to the song," Yes to your will Lord". She was baptistized giving her life to Christ, at Eastside C.O.G.I.C Pastor Ben Scott. Dorothea knew that, "only what you do for Christ will last". Where ever she lived, she had a church home, and shared all her God given talents. She played drums for the youth ministry and worked in the church daycare at Glad Tiding Assemblies of God in KC MO. Dorothea was a member of the Gang Girls ministry at Victory Outreach Ministries, again giving her all to serve and giving of her talents and traveling to many cities with the ministry. In 2012, she became a member of Hope and healing C.O.G.I.C in Raytown Mo. Dorothea was currently a member of Christian Fellowship Ministries in KCMO Pastor Melvin and Pastor Florine King. Dorothea was truly a child of God, a peaceful soul, a true worshipper. She knew our Redeemer lives. Dorothea became engaged to Gianni Boafo of Rome Italy, in October of 2020.
As she slept peacefully, God called Dorothea home on December 28th 2021. She touched many lives, and Dorothea will be truly missed. So don't be discouraged. I know that we all share great memories to hold on to. We love you Dorothea. She leaves behind mother Shirley Calvert Vickers, stepfather Lawrence Vickers, little sister Shirlmarie Calvert, a nice Jordann Calvert, a stepbrother Lawrence Vickers, a nephew Darnell Vickers, a grandmother Mary Davis, a fiance Gianni Boafo, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and her church family.
