Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Fred Cox on October 11, 1941 and they were for married for 59 years before Fred passed from emphysema in 2000. She was a domestic engineer while their children were in school. She then went to work wrapping packages at Woolf Brothers clothing store at Christmas time. When they became empty nesters she went to work for the IRS during tax season and that turned into full time job.
