

Dorothy J. Goodwin, 85, of Kansas City Missouri, died on Friday, January 10, 2014, after a short illness. Dorothy was born March 10, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry and Myrtle (Nida) Frey, who owned and operated the Waldo Grain Company in south Kansas City. She grew up in the Waldo area where she attended Hale Cook Elementary and graduated from Southwest High School in 1945. After the death of her parents, Dorothy became the owner of the Waldo Grain Company, the oldest continuously operating business in Waldo. She was an accomplished seamstress and an exceptional cook, as well as a loving, kind, and generous person.
Dorothy took great pride in her family. She is survived by her sons, Kurt Goodwin, Dave Goodwin (Pat) and Jon Goodwin (Lori), all of Kansas City, Missouri, and daughter –in- law, Nellie Goodwin of Overland Park, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristin Neuhauser (Eric), Katie Barilaro (Dustin), Steven Goodwin (Rachael), and William Goodwin (Emily). Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Claire and Henry Neuhauser, Ava Barilaro, and Isaac and Alexander Goodwin.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home,10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri, (www.waysidewaifs.org) are requested in lieu of flowers.
