Dorothy was born on December 31, 1933 in Centerridge, Arkansas to Marvin and Grace Ethridge. She got married at the age of 15 to Charles Thomey and they had two boys together and moved to Backerfield, California. Then in 1955, they moved back to Kansas City, Missouri. In 1961, she married again to Russell T. Hendrickson and they had one daughter. That marriage did not work out either but in 1975-she married Willie David King and she will be laid to rest beside him for eternity.
Dorothy lived in the Northeast part of Kansas City from 1955 until she was no longer able to take care of herself in 2018. She enjoyed going to yard sales and loved making quilts. She worked for Wilson Sporting Goods as a seamstress. We remember her telling us that she sewed the uniforms for The Globetrotters. Wilson Sporting Goods then moved to Tennessee and she did not want to leave the Kansas City Area.
She loved spending time with her family and she leaves 3 children and 1 sister. Children Charles R. (Vickie) Thomey of Golden Valley, Arizona, Marvin H. (Louis) Thomey of Quenemo, Kansas and Tina G. (Gordon) Smothers of Odessa, Missouri. Sister Barbara N. Gipson of Morrilton, Arkansas. 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
