Dwight E. Alder Sr., a faithful, humorous, and generous family man, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 17, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, Dwight was a beloved sports fan and mechanically inclined individual who resided in Kansas City, Kansas.
Dwight attended Yeager School in his early years and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1969. He furthered his education at the Electronics Institute trade school. A hard-working individual, Dwight was a member of IBEW Local Union 53 and was recently honored for completing 50 years of service. He was notably the second African American on record to complete his apprenticeship and become certified as a journeyman lineman.
In April 1974, Dwight married Deborah Williams, and together they had three sons: David, Darrin, and Dwight Jr. Although they divorced in December 1985, Dwight's family continued to grow as he later adopted a fourth son, Markqus Alder, and cherished his 11 grandchildren.
Dwight spent much of his time helping those in need and visiting friends and family, including former colleagues. He delighted in spoiling his grandchildren for birthdays, holidays, and any occasion, and he supported his family and friends by attending their children and grandchildren's sporting events, concerts, and recitals.
His legacy of faith, resilience, and love will continue to live on through every life he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Alder Sr. and Evelyn Alder, and his brothers, Robert Alder Jr., Michael Alder, Larry Alder, and Richard Alder.
He is survived by his children, David Alder (Tina), Darrin Alder (Heidi), Dwight Alder Jr. (Ginger), and Markqus Alder, as well as his sisters, Mae Ford, Rhonda Sue Williamson, Kathleen Alder, and brother Darrell (Marvel) Alder Sr., a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your prayers, love, and support. May God bless each of you for the comfort you have given. Your expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness reflect God's love, and they are truly grateful.
