
Edith Ricono, 101, Leawood, Kansas passed away peacefully on Monday August 22, 2022. On Friday, August 26th, the Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM, followed by visitation at 10:00 AM and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th St., Leawood, Kansas, with a private family entombment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family request that masks be worn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
Edith was born in Witt, Illinois, on March 16, 1921 to Martino and Maria Berutti. She grew up in Wilsonville, Illinois. After completion of high school, she attended St. Louis Business School where she received an associate degree. Before she married, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. She married the love of her life, Martin Ricono, Sr., on June 22, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. Following the wedding, they moved to Kansas City, where they raised three children and were married for 63 years until Martin’s passing in 2005. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Northeast Kansas City for over 50 years and a member of Church of the Nativity for 27 years.
She dedicated her life to her family, whom she cherished. She was actively involved in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA. She enjoyed spending countless hours babysitting her grandchildren. She was always there for her neighbors in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lena, Jenny, and Delida, and brothers William, Chester and Paul.
She is survived by her three children, Martin Ricono, Jr. and his wife Mary Jo, Marion Ricono and his wife Patty, and Marilyn Hager and her husband Ken. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Mary Jane Requejo (Fernando), Annamarie Vivona (John) , Angie Frizzo (Tony), Joe Ricono (Amy), Phil Ricono (Misty), Christina Hager Darling (Neil) and Joseph Hager (Khanh Nguyen, fiancé), and eleven great grandchildren, Michael Requejo, Ruth Requejo, Luca Frizzo, Joey Frizzo, Rocco Frizzo, Avah Koons, Aidan Ricono, Caroline Ricono, Nicholas Ricono, Gwendolyn Darling and Taran Darling.
