

Edith Louise White, 91, passed away December 20, 2014 in Independence, MO. She had been in poor health & a resident of a care home for some time before quietly passing away in her sleep. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm Sun., Dec., 28th at the South Crysler Community of Christ Church, 3100 S. Crysler, Indep., MO.
Edith was born September 24, 1923 in Richmond, MO to Cecil & Frances Hutson. At the age of 8 her family moved to La Junta, CO where she attended school, graduating from High School & Business School. In 1942 Edith was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (later to become the Community of Christ).
On July 25, 1942 Edith & Durwood White were married in Rocky Ford, CO. This union was blessed with four children; William (who preceded her in death), James of Independence, Patricia of Chicago & Ralph of Montana. Edith was a very talented woman, an excellent homemaker, an accomplished seamstress and a very capable artist; having won numerous awards with her oil, porcelain & china paintings as well as her stained glass work. In 1984 Edith retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years as a civilian accountant in accounts control at McConnell Air Base in Wichita, KS.
Edith is survived by her husband, Durwood; three children & their spouses; 7 grandchildren & their spouses; 15 great grandchildren and many friends. In lieu of flowers family welcomes memorial contributions to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington, Indep., MO 64050.
