Eddie was born on April 13, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of James Edwin and Deborah (Grabczewski) Mitchell. Eddie attended Red Bridge Elementary, Valley Park Elementary and graduated from Blue Valley North High School. He graduated from KU with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting. Eddie was a licensed Certified Public Accountant, passing all of the C.P.A. exams on the first try.
Eddie and Casey met coincidentally at Half-Price Books in Westport in January of 2008. They had a passion for books and reading. They were married on August 8, 2015 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Eddie enjoyed music and played the piano, guitar, and bass guitar. Eddie was also passionate about family, fitness, and personal health. He was an avid supporter of the arts.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Mitchell in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Casey Whittier, mother, Debbie Mitchell, and Scott, Sharon, Nate, and Nicole Whittier, as well as extended family and friends. He also leaves his beloved puppies, Baya and Bentley.
Visitation will be from 12 pm - 2 pm Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Graveside services will follow at 2 pm with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Donations in Eddie's memory can be made to the Great Plains SPCA in Merriam, Kansas.
