

Edwina Marie Bowman, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 18th, 10:00 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, August 17th at 6:00 p.m., with the visitation continuing until 8:00 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO, 64145.
Edwina Gatto was born June 18, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her treasured family. She married Milton “Bub” Bowman on August 2, 1952, and they resided in Kansas City during their 59 years of marriage. “Eddie”, as she was known by her husband and friends, was an excellent bridge player, a volunteer at the Catholic Ladies of Charity, Seton Center and a friend to many during her life. Her most important position was always that of wife and mother.
Eddie was preceded in death by her father, Steno “Pop” Gatto and her mother, Doris Dedmon Gatto. She is survived by her husband, Milton “Bub” Bowman of Kansas City; her daughters, Debra (Randy) Arp of Morrison, CO; Tammy Sanford (Richard) Goede of Kansas City, MO; Shelley (Bryan) Riggs of Lenexa, KS; and her son, Mark (Kristina) Bowman of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Katie, Emilie, Brett, Kelsey, Alec, Ryan and Richard.
