Eleanor, or “Ellie”, as she was called by her friends, was born in Grain Valley, Missouri. She attended Grain Valley High School and received letters in both Glee Club and Choir. She worked at the Butler Manufacturing Company during her Senior year, where she met her first husband, Bryan Wheeler. They were married in Independence, Missouri, in December of 1953. Ellie and Bryan moved to Raytown, Missouri in 1956, where they purchased the home that would remain their family home until Bryan’s passing.
She worked many different jobs during her lifetime: Crown Zellerbach Plastics, Hertz Rental Car and Teamsters Local 335, to name a few. Her bubbly personality and ability to connect with others easily made her a well-loved friend by everyone in her orbit. She retired from each of her jobs after many successful and exceptional years of employment. Ellie and Bryan had four children: Ronald Wheeler of Coronado, Ca., BriAnne Blaine of Harrisonville, Mo., Scott Wheeler (deceased) and Elaine Hand of Blue Springs, Mo.. She and Bryan remained married until his death in 1994.
After several years, Ellie met the next love of her life, Ralph Keibler. Ralph was an AP Journalist and IT Specialist. They found their lives were similar, and struck up a friendship that eventually became strong enough to lead them to marriage. They lived in Independence, Missouri until Ralph’s untimely death in 2014.
Ellie had a great love for all of the people in her life; her family at the center of that affection. She enjoyed tending to her garden, hosting the most entertaining parties, and spending time with those closest to her.
She remained in the Independence home she shared with Ralph until she moved to John Knox Village in 2020.
She passed peacefully, surrounded by her children and loved ones at St. Luke’s Hospice, September of 2024.
She will continue to be loved and cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo. 64133 on Tuesday, 17 September 2024. Visitation at 9:00am with services and interment to follow.
