

Elias G. Lopez, Sr. 88 of Kansas City, MO, died on April 16, 2016 at the VA Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, KCMO, with the service following at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. The burial to follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Elias was born on April 23, 1927 in Kansas City, KS to Cristobal and Beatriz Lopez. Eager to serve his country he joined the United States Army at the age of 16 years old. He was deployed to Europe during World War II as a gunner. He worked for Ford Motor Company, Electro Bumper & Plating, before retiring from The Golden Ox Restaurant. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing music and watching western movies. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ruben and Cristobal Jr; sisters Eva, Petra and Mary He is survived by his companion of 55 years, Lupe Tomas Lopez; son, Elias Lopez, Jr. (Brenda); daughters, Helen Zamora (Pedro), Barbara Zamora, and Marie Helen Quattlebaum (Eddie); he also helped raise Joe, Robert, Laura; sisters Juanita Florez, Ruth, Rosemary, Lucy, Lupe, Angelina and Elena, other close family member Jose (Beatriz) Tomas, Jose (Lupe) Tomas, Juanita(Santos Sr )Ruiz , Carmen (Raymond) Canchola, Linda (Larry) Chavez, Emily Razo. Flora (Arthur) Carrillo; Gladys Kline and Marylou Aceves, 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
