Elizabeth Ann Fetterling passed away on May 6, 2025. A memorial service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, Mo., on May 16. A rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:20 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
Betty was born on Sept. 23, 1927, in Throop, Pa., to Ann and Joseph Burak. She had a lovely childhood in a house that was often filled with music. After graduating from high school, she moved to Kansas City and got a job at Trans World Airlines (TWA), where she met her husband, Frank Fetterling. The two were married on Nov. 12, 1949, and they had three children together: Ann, Stephen and Paul.
A talented seamstress, Betty ran a window drapery business called Window Panes for more than 20 years. She also loved to paint and garden, but she truly shined in the kitchen. Her homemade bread and blueberry pies were legendary, and even her great-granddaughter referred to her as “Cookie Grandma.”
She is survived by her sister, Joan Burak, and brother, Joseph Burak; her daughter, Ann Oehler (Stephen Oehler); as well as her seven grandchildren, their spouses and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in life by her husband, Frank Fetterling, and her sons, Stephen and Paul Fetterling.
