Elizabeth Ann McCoy

Ann was born at the old Research Hospital in Kansas City, MO. To Margaret Blanche Carty Andrews and Theodore Andrews on April 17th, 1943. She grew up in Kansas City attending schools in the Raytown School District. Ann obtained a Master of Science in Chemistry degree from UMKC and completed additional coursework at Princeton University, Ohio State University, University Missouri – Columbia, University Missouri – Rolla, Colorado State University, Central Missouri State University, and Hope College of Michigan.

Ann married Layton Leslie McCoy on August 3rd, 1966. They were blessed with two wonderful sons and four grandchildren. Ann and Layton were chemical educators, Ann at the secondary and post-secondary levels. She was regularly recognized as an outstanding high school chemistry teacher.

Ann enjoyed playing bassoon in local community bandstand orchestras. She played in the Raytown High School Band & Orchestra, Kansas City Youth Symphony, Central Missouri State Band, North Star Band, Chandler Baptist Church Orchestra, and a Baroque Chamber Music group.

She would also spend much of her free time with family. She and her sister Carolyn Pogemiller would also share their homes hosting family dinners that would create a lifetime of amazing memories.

She was preceded in death husband Dr. Layton L McCoy; two brothers Robert Joseph Andrews and Dr. John Ernest Andrews; and three sisters, Margaret Louise Andrews, Carolyn Sue Pogemiller, and Barbara Lynn Cressman.

She is survived by son Lincoln L McCoy and his wife Amy McCoy; son Jason A McCoy and his wife Dawn McCoy; granddaughter, Lauren Leslie McCoy; grandson Victor Andrew; grandson Jacob Dennis McCoy; grandson Wyatt Samuel McCoy.

In lieu of flowers, Ann would have been pleased that contributions be sent with a note designating the LeRoy Pogemiller Scholarship Fund to UMKC Foundation, Room 229, Administrative Center, Kansas City, MO 64110
