Ellen Marie Meyer, 96, of Leawood, KS, passed away November 29, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, December 5, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Private service and interment.
Born on December 17, 1917 in Kansas City, MO, Marie was a life-long area resident who graduated from Paseo High School. She worked as an air brush artist at Hallmark Cards, before careering as a medical stenographer at the University of Kansas Medical School while her husband attended medical school. During and after the years of raising her two children, she volunteered for her children’s activities, church and community.
Husband of 64 years, Paul W. Meyer, M.D.; parents Karl and Ellen Scott; brother Karl Scott, Jr.; and sister Dorothy Bell preceded Marie in death. She is survived by son Paul W. Meyer Jr.; daughter and son-in-law Jo and Gary Missildine and grandson Matthew Missildine, all of Kansas City, MO; grandson and wife Timothy and Candice Missildine and great-grandson Mark of Shanghai, China; and nieces and nephews of multiple places.
In lieu of flowers, kindly give to the Paul W. Meyer, MD Orthopedic Education Fund in care of the St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation; Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics Orthopedic Department; or any charity of your choice.
