I am so sorry to hear of Elvin's death.  In the short time I worked with him on our project I found him to be a man of great wisdom, kindness and fairness.  I know how much he loved his family because he could not stop talking about every one of his children and grandchildren.  Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.  

I was sorry to hear of the loss of Elvin. He was a terrific gentleman.  My first real job was working for Elvin at Bannister Standard driving a tow truck and learning how to work on cars.  Later in life we would find ourselves in the same industry working on refrigeration and HVAC. Fortunately for me that was a way that I continued to run into him at industry events  and luckily several months ago we caught up at a gas station. We enjoyed talking about the lake. Uncle Elvin,

Thank you for working so hard to provide us with fun vacations, an awesome lake house, hours of boating and never having to do without. You taught me a strong work ethic and I learned to work hard for the things I want. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures of you, especially of you growing up - you were such a gorgeous boy!! Between you and Aunt Gayla - no wonder your children and grandchildren are so beautiful! I always loved the special times we had at the Father/Daughter dinner dances -- you spun me around the floor and I always had a blast with you. Your legacy will live on! All my love to you and the family!

Elvin hired me when I was 19 or 20. It was my first real job. He gave me the opportunity to learn a trade. He could've hired someone with experience and someone a lot more  responsible than a 19 year old boy that cared more about hanging out with friends and staying out all night even though I had to be at work at 7am. I had no experience whatsoever, but he believed in me and took time out of his always busy life to teach me a trade that most people have to pay a lot of money and go to school to learn. I was late to work almost everyday and sometimes didn't even show up, but Elvin never gave up on me. Very few people if any would've done that for me and no one else would've given me so many chances. Anyone else would've fired me the first time I was over an hour late to work with no good reason, but instead Elvin went out of his way and even worked one on one with me. He was the hardest working man I'll ever know and still found the time teach me HVAC, but more important he taught me to be a good man and to work hard for my family. I'm so thankful for that period of time Elvin and me worked one on one together! It didn't matter how young I was, we became good friends and  laughed a lot together. I'll be forever grateful for how much he believed in me! I recently started my own business and Elvin is the man that showed me what it takes to build a successful business. I'll always look up to him and think of him often. Elvin was an important mentor in my life and I'll remember a lot of things he taught me for the rest of my life. Thank you and rest well Elvin. I loved how Elvin would say whatever was on his mind - he always made me laugh. He also wasn't afraid of climbing up on whatever was available to look at a furnace and that always made me nervous! He was one of a kind and I will miss him.

Uncle Elvin, I will miss your laugh, your advice, your hospitality, witnessing your love for your wife and children and grandchildren, and your sweet smile. You were always so devoted to your family, and I admired that greatly. You worked hard and had an amazing work ethic! Thank you for all the precious memories from my childhood of you as the wonderful daddy I saw changing diapers, cradling babies, and loving your kids. I knew that's what a daddy and husband should do! The memories of spending summers in your terrifically crowded house where love abounded bring joy! I appreciated watching you through the years making sure Gayla spent time with her parents, sisters and brothers, and your kids playing with their cousins! I love you very much and I will miss you very much.

Elvin was the kindest and nicest man to work with.  I have fond memories of Elvin playing golf at the CD Jones Golf Tournaments.   My thoughts and prayers are with you Gayla and Greg.

Never will we know a man who worked harder for his family or loved and cared for his family more.  We feel blessed to have known Elvin.  God be with you all as you celebrate his life.

Elvin was a wonderful man. He was always smiling. He would do anything for you. He was in love with his wife Gayla and you could see it in his eyes. He was so gentle and fun loving. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed by all. We will be thinking of the entire family during your time of sorrow.
