Eric Bernard Goodyear

20 febrero, 1947 – 6 febrero, 2023
Obituario de Eric Bernard Goodyear
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home & Floral Hills Cemetery

Eric Bernard Goodyear passed away on February 6, 2023, peacefully in his sleep, with his loving daughters and wife at his side.

Eric was born in Ohio and spent his childhood helping his Grandpa Schar on the farm. These were some of his best memories as a child. Eric attended NYU Film School in New York City with dreams of being a film maker. It was during this time he met the love of his life, Emilie. The two of them would go on to have exciting adventures, including surviving a torrential rainstorm on the 11 Point River in the middle of nowhere. Eric and Emilie would travel the country in a shag carpeted van to Durango, CO. This is where they started their family with the birth of their two daughters, Erica and Erin.

Durango, Colorado was Eric’s second love after his wife and daughters. There was no other perfect place on Earth for him. Durango fulfilled all the things he loved about the outdoors. The mountains, forests, rivers, horses and beautiful scenery. Eric loved to take his family camping at Henderson Lake in the San Juan Mountains. This is where he showed his girls how to cook on an open fire, rough it in a tent, and catch fish.

Eric also loved jazz music, especially Miles Davis. He was a talented jazz drummer, playing in jazz clubs since the age of 12. He became known as “the best Brush Man in the business”. He enjoyed teaching his girls and his grandsons about different jazz musicians as much as they like sharing music with him.

Eric had a passion for sports. Football, baseball, tennis, golf. Basketball was Eric’s favorite. He played many games of HORSE in the driveway with his daughters. He taught them how to play catch and swing a golf club.

Friends and family will always revere Eric as a man’s man who was a very thoughtful, kind, funny man who’d give you the shirt off his back. He will always be remembered for that ornery twinkle in his eye that put a smile on your face because you knew something fun was about to happen.

We will see you again in the sunset Cicso.
