Evelyn Geraldine Jones Flewelling

Evelyn Geraldine Flewelling, 89, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral service 10am Monday, February 6, 2017 at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Burial directly following in Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS.

Evelyn was born October 3, 1927 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Robert L. and Ethel Mae (Rice) Jones. Evelyn married Leslie “Les” Flewelling on August 14, 1944 and to this union five children were born. Les and Evelyn first lived in Vernon Co., Missouri. About 1952 they moved to Kansas City, KS for a short time, then moved to the Raytown area where they lived for several years. Shortly before Les retired they moved to Milo, MO and lived for a while on his brothers’ farm which was also where his parents had lived for several years. Les and Evelyn then lived near Eldorado Springs, MO. Evelyn was an avid seamstress, knitter, and crocheted. She was also a volunteer who visited many nursing homes in the Nevada, MO area to see and interact with the residents at those facilities. She really loved to have her grandchildren down to the farm for visit near Nevada, MO area.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Les who passed away in 1997and her daughter, Rhonda Giesler who passed away in 2015. She is survived by her children Gary (Earlene) Flewelling, Ronald Flewelling, Lylyan Flewelling, and Mary Flewelling.
