

Evelyn Vera (Quintanilla) Welk, 49, of Independence, Missouri, died June 11, 2016 at Camp Midian near Springville, Indiana. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Evelyn was born March 09, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1985. Evelyn worked in medical billing and accounts payable. She also owned the bookstore, Ancient Pathways, for two years. In 2015 Evelyn graduated from UMKC with a BA in Environmental Science. She worked on the board for a non for profit organization and was president for multiple years. In addition she was an active member of the IOT. Evelyn was known to address problems and opportunities with a modern shamanistic approach. She was dedicated to living environmentally friendly through her entire life. In addition she loved to make instruments and jewelry art using animal bones, wood, and recycled metal components. Evelyn is preceded in death by her grandparents Mike and Evelyn Patti, mother Helen Quintanilla and father Alex Quintanilla. She is survived by her husband Jens Welk; daughter, Ashley Storm Heckman; grandsons: Sabastion and Dominick, sister, Margie Whitney and her husband, Tom; nephew Tommy, niece Erica, uncle Michael, aunt Bea and a vast community of friends.
