Federico was born on February 27, 1958 in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico, the son of Federico De J. Gallegos and Laura Pecina De Gallegos. He and his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was thirteen years old to seek better economic and job opportunities.
Federico worked as a forklift driver at Caravan Ingredients, renamed Corbion, for forty years before formally retiring in 2014. Federico lived a life rich with simplicity and joy. He found immense pleasure in the company of his family, sharing the gospel, entertaining loved ones with his humor and stories, his uncanny talent of tinkering with what would seem ordinary objects into the extraordinary, better known by his loved ones as the Mexican MacGuyver, and passionately followed his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Federico’s life was marked by his kindness, sense of humor, and deep devotion to his Christian faith. His goodness and integrity were evident in all he did. He is survived by his beloved wife, Esperanza Gallegos, of 47 years who he was deeply devoted to; his children, Araceli Magaña (Frank) and Federico C. Gallegos (Lesly); his six grandchildren, Vanessa Corado (Mario), Luis-Angel Beltran del Rio, Selene Gallegos, Federico Sebastian Gallegos, Enrique Gallegos, and Cristian Gallegos; his three great-grandchildren, Layla Starr Nguyen, Priscilla Corado, and Mario Mark Corado; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Federico was preceded in death by his dearest parents, Federico De J. Gallegos and Laura Pecina De Gallegos; and his son, Gabriel Gallegos.
Federico's fondest memories with his grandchildren were filled with playful moments and valuable lessons about love, generosity, and cherishing life’s simple joys. His final message was one of faith and trust in God's provision. Federico’s loving spirit and kind heart will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
