Frances Marie Lanigan

Frances Marie (DeMeulenaere) Lanigan, age 75, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away on October 8, 2023 at home. Visitation will be held from 9:30am-11:00am (Rosary at 9:30), Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Friday, October 13, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, Fran wanted memorial contributions to be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #14270.

Fran was born on February 13, 1948 in Kansas City. She grew up in the Riverside area where she helped support the family by working on the family farm. She married Larry Dean Lanigan on January 24, 1970. Fran graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1969. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years spending most of it working in long term care nursing homes. She worked for many years as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Carondelet Manor next to St. Joseph hospital. At Carondelet, she taught classes for people to become a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. She chose nursing as a profession because of her concern of elderly people and their needs as time went on. Fran had four sons. She spent a lot of time supporting and volunteering for her sons’ activities in sports and the Boy Scouts.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Francis (Frank) and Margaret DeMeulenaere. She is survived by her sisters Irene Adams and Teresa Rew; her sons Mark Allen Lanigan, Matthew David Lanigan, Timothy Francis Lanigan and Anthony Patrick Lanigan; three grandchildren Olivia Leigh Lanigan, Emma Grace Lanigan, Margaret Delaney Lanigan; and many nieces and nephews.
