Frank Hernandez Jr., 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed to be with The Lord on Friday, December 27, 2013. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Jovita Hernandez.
Frank is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria Hernandez, four children, Glory (Craig) Olson, Robert Hernandez, Carrie (Laurence) Kelly, and Tim (Tatiana) Hernandez, five grandchildren, JonAnthony, Soffia, Evan, Tatiana, and Julian, and his sister, Josie Hernandez, and his brother, Ralph Hernandez.
His greatest joy was being a grandfather. But he also loved his garden, fishing, and conversations held in his basement with those who dropped by for a haircut. He was a gifted woodworker and could repair most anything but especially those things made of wood. To know Frank was to love him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Visitation and rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, with Rosary at 7 p.m. at McGilley Funeral Home, 20 W. Linwood, Kansas City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Christ the King Church, 85th and Wornall, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial at the Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City.
