

Frank Abbott Pierce III, 59, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:30a.m. at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., KCMO 64133. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:30a.m. with the Rosary recited at 9:45a.m. at the chapel. Frank was born March 10, 1956 in Dubuque, IA. to Frank and Grace (Stuefer) Pierce. As a young man, Frank worked for the U.S. Forest Service battling forest fires. He worked for 20 years as a Park Ranger at Lake Pomme de Terre. Later in life he was a civilian employee with the U.S. Army Corp or Engineers as a realty specialist serving in 2002 in Kyrgyzstan and in 2010 in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Non Article 5 NATO Medal for his service. Frank was called to serve after Hurricane Katrina as well as the tornado that struck Joplin, MO to assist with clean up and restoration of those areas. Frank was also a former Hickory Co. Fire Rescue Squad First Responder and former Fire Chief for P.V.F.D. He was named the 1998 Man of the Year by the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Frank loved everyone but little children were drawn to his warm and comical sense. Survivors include his parents, Frank and Grace Pierce, his wife of 31 years, Ann (Wagner); two sons, Michael and Frank IV(Anastasia King); brother, John Pierce(Marcia Katz); numerous nieces and nephews and a large loving family.
