
Frank R. Terry, 82 of Leawood, Kansas died August 14, 2010 at Menorah Medical Center. Services were Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Wornall and Meyer Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, Rotary Club 13 Youth Camp or a charity of your choice.
Frank was born March 8, 1928 in Newton, Kansas to Brooks and Audrey (Winger) Terry. Frank graduated from Northwestern University and earned his law degree going to night school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked 33 years at United Missouri Bank (n/k/a UMB Bank) and rose to Vice Chairman of the Board in charge of the Trust Department. Frank was involved with the UMKC Conservatory of Music, The Niles Home for Children and Rotary Club 13.
Frank always displayed both wisdom and humility. For all whom knew him, he will be remembered as a person who offered both heartfelt thought and irreverent humor to any conversation for the benefit of those around him. He loved people of all walks of life and valued their gifts. He will be remembered as one who appreciated the gifts and challenges of life, lovingly accepted the adversity, somehow knowing we would all benefit from the lessons therein. His family will miss his grace, sense of humor and friendship.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Susan Smart Terry.
He is survived by his four sons and their spouses, Mike (Chris), Fort Worth, Texas, Bob (Penny), Leawood, Kansas, Brian (Jill), Olathe, Kansas and Tom (Keely) , Prairie Village, Kansas and his sister, Maggie Morgan, Newton, Kansas and his ten grandchildren, Teri, Tracy, Ryan, Kevin, Erin, Jourdan, Bailey, Matt, Drew, and Lauren, and three great grandchildren, Jaden, Reed and Lilly, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
