Gary was born on December 30, 1950 to Jacob Francis Daub and Virginia May (Smallwood) Daub in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Rockhurst High School – Class of 1969. Gary, ‘once a Union Man, always a Union Man’, had certificates in many subjects including negotiations. Someone we could all use, who could express our needs when we had no voice. Gary was a 12 year cancer survivor. His life support was a stomach tube but he was still a chef at heart. He could cook and bake even though he couldn’t taste what he made, but he loved that people really enjoyed whatever he made.
Gary, his grandson Lucas and daughter Michelle loved bowling together. Even with the stomach tube, Gary could still bowl a 200 pin average (or higher) with the best of them. Gary was involved with Boy Scouts.
Gary was Catholic by faith, but had a spiritual shepherd and friend in Reverend Bryce Bereuter and Reverend Tim Staffeld at Calvary Lutheran Church.
Gary loved God. He was a great son, brother, friend, husband, dad and very proud ‘Grampy’, especially Grampy to his grandson Lucas. Gary bragged like a peacock because Lucas will be the 1st generation Daub to go to a Division One University, University of Missouri in Columbia.
The family wishes to thank Research Medical Center ICU Surgical Unit for their great care of Gary. God blessed all of the doctors and nurses with a their great skill in medicine but also their very big hearts.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and lots of loved ones who are all waiting for him at the heavenly gates.
Gary is survived by brothers, Kenny and Dennis; only daughter Michelle; only grandson Lucas and friends & family, too many to mention… as well as the family dog, Dixie.
