Jerry was born February 26, 1958 to Warren G. and Velma E. Glenn in Kansas City, MO. He grew up near 71st and Metcalf in Overland Park, KS as one of six children: Patricia Jenson, James (Dell), Robert (Karen), Don (Kim), and Donna. As the youngest brother, he loved and admired his siblings. All attended Queen of the Holy Rosary School and then Bishop Miege H.S.
Jerry attended Pittsburg State where he majored in accounting. After passing the CPA exam he worked and traveled the country as a KS state auditor until accepting a job as an assistant controller at KU Med. He worked more than 20 years as associate controller with co-workers who became close friends. A devoted husband and father, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his wife, Deborah Chiles Glenn, and supporting his boys, Michael, 31, San Francisco, CA and Kevin, 21, a KU junior. He loved his view from the bleachers as his sons swam for the Kansas City Blazers over a 25-year period before swimming at the University of Massachusetts and LSU.
An avid yet long-suffering fan of the KC Chiefs, he was thrilled to share the team’s recent successes with his sons. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel. A visitation will be held before the service, starting at 1 p.m. Debbie, Michael, Kevin, and Chief deeply appreciate your support during this difficult time and ask that you make contributions to the Gerald Glenn Memorial Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
