

Gerald (Jerry) Robert Sitler, 89 years old, passed away on October 14, 2025. He was born in Summerfield, Kansas to Robert and Gladys Sitler on October 22, 1935. Jerry had four children: Steve, Robert, Susan and Nichole, and a stepdaughter, Christi. He also had 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara Hicks; son Robert; and nephews, Todd Hicks and Brian Hicks.
Jerry grew up on a farm in Axtel, Kansas. After High School, he completed 2 years of college at UMKC in Kansas City. After college he worked at Farrar’s Girls’ Shop on the Plaza where he won several annual awards for his window displays. He later served as Treasurer for B.E. Hodgdon, Inc. for many years, and then spent the rest of his working career as a contractor, building and remodeling homes. Jerry was a perfectionist in his work and was known for his excellent woodworking skills.
In addition to residing in the Kansas City area for most of his life, Jerry also lived in the Seattle, Washington area from 1979 – 2000.
Jerry loved working with wood and also being “Mr. Fix-It” from vacuums to toys for family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, family get-togethers, Kansas City BBQ and watching sports. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs’ fan.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, Kansas on November 22, 2025.
