Giovanni “John” Franco, 76, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, July 1, 2019 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Ave., Kansas City, MO 64117. A visitation will be held from 5:00PM-8:00PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019, with rosary being prayed at 4:30PM prior to the visitation at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO. 64119.
Giovanni was born January 22, 1943 in Castel Di Lucio, Sicily, Italy. He was the son of Antonino and Abbodanza (Lombardo) Franco. Giovanni married Carmelina (Battaglia) in Sicily on October 23, 1969. They came to the United States in 1970 and made Kansas City their home.
Giovanni worked for Robinson Potato Co. for nearly 30 years as a foreman. He later retired from Rinker Materials.
Giovanni loved his Italian heritage often sharing memories and photos through Facebook. He loved watching cowboy movies and his Chevy trucks, but most of all his family, especially his two granddaughters, Alaina and Lydia.
Giovanni will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Giovanni was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Giuseppe and Francesco and sister, Lucia, and brother-in-law Antonino Ferraro.
He is survived by his wife, Carmelina, son, Anthony (Jennifer), daughter, Lucy, granddaughters, Alaina and Lydia, sister Maria, brothers, Placido (Calogera), Domenico(Pina), sister, Santa, brothers-in-law, Sebastiano and Orazio, sisters-in-laws, Domenica, Santa all of Sicily.
Giovanni also leaves behind many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many more relatives and friends.
