Gladys Electa Turner, 86, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri with funeral services at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 6800 West 93rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212. Gladys was born on April 16, 1924 in Toledo, Missouri to John and Emily (Plumb) Wilkinson. Gladys married Trellis Turner on February 1, 1945 in a log cabin in Ozark County. They lived in many different communities and finally settled in Kansas City in 1958 where Trellis worked as a carpenter. She was preceded in death by her brother Elga Wilkinson (W. Ellie Wilkinson), son Brian K. Turner, and infant daughter Sybil I. Turner. She is survived by her husband Trellis T. Turner of the home, sisters Retha Trent of Squires, Missouri and Myrtle Hanoch (H. Charles Hanoch) of Midland, Michigan, son Dencil Turner of Cleveland, Missouri, daughter Sandra Terry of Kansas City, Missouri, grandchildren Amy Salazar of Overland Park, Kansas, Angela Bedard of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Ty Turner of Louisburg, Kansas and six great-grandchildren.
