

Glenn F. McClure, 92, passed away at John Knox Village under hospice care on September 21, 2015. Glenn was born November 29, 1922 the son of George and Eunice (DeMoss) McClure. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the John Knox Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Glenn grew up in Kansas City, and was a 1941 graduate of Central H.S. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He was a belly gunner Staff Sergeant on a B17 with the 101st Bomb Squadron. He served his country from 8-2-1943 thru 10-28-1945. Glenn retired as a clerk from the K.C. Terminal Railway Company in 1987 with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Transportation Communications International Union, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by both parents and his wife Helen McClure in 1972. On 4-23-2011 he married Helen Acosta at John Knox Village. He is survived by wife Helen Acosta and seven wonderful step children. He is also survived by several cousins, friends and his Hy-Vee breakfast buddies. Glenn passed away a happy and loved man. The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to John Knox Hospice.
