Gregory Gene Berry

Gregory Gene Berry, age 68, affectionately known as “Shugg”, was born January 18, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. Preceded in death by his mother Eula Mae Berry Prince and stepfather Russell Prince. Gregory accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul A.M.E Zion Church. He served on many committees and was a faithful member until his death. He was a graduate of the class of 71’ at Lincoln High School. Before joining the United States Navy in 1983, Gregory began his musical career with the Fabulous Techniques – Joint Session, Intersection Fantasy, Woodlands, Seeds of Faith and the Horns of Glory (HOGS). While with the band he also played shows with the following groups, The Whispers, Delfonics, Ohio Players, Dramatics, Funkadelic/Parliament, Stylistics, Bloodstones and many more. Gregory was employed within the United States Postal Service up until the time of his death. His passion and love were singing, and he loved watching those Royals, Chiefs and KU Basketball games. Gregory met and married the love of his life, Eartha Marie Bausby, who he affectionally called “wifey”. The two of them loved to travel together and enjoyed taking road trips along with their daughter Teal, and two grandchildren Chyann and Triston, as well as visiting family in various states. He had a smile that would make anyone’s day become brighter with that easy-going personality, heart of gold and that infectious laughter. With his easy-going personality, he will fondly be remembered, loved, and missed continuously by all. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Eartha Marie Berry, bonus son and daughter, Rodney A. Bausby and Teal Q. Davis, ten bonus grandchildren, aunts and uncles, a loving host of cousins and friends, and loving childhood friends who he considered family, The Washington’s, William’s, and Thad Buffington.
