

Gretchen Wilhelm-McCabe, 49 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Aug 25, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Tues, Aug 30 at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main St. KCMO, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Visitation Church.
Gretchen was born on February 28, 1967 in Omaha, NE and moved to the Brookside Neighborhood of Kansas City when she was 1 year old. She attended Border Star School, Bingham Middle School, St. Teresa’s Academy. In 1985, Gretchen graduated from Southwest High School where she played flute and baritone sax in jazz band, participated in the pompom squad and the German Club. Gretchen attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA where she studied fine arts and photography, graduating in 1989. She received a Master in Photography from Ohio State University. Gretchen worked in various food and beverage industry jobs.
Gretchen was preceded in death by her father, Don Wilhelm. She is survived by her son, Jonathon McCabe of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Emmeline McCabe of KCMO; mother, Dianne Wilhelm of Bonita Springs, FL; brother, Craig Wilhelm (Teresa Shock) of KCMO; aunts, cousins, and many friends who were her extended family.
