Harold was born on February 8,1933 in Vienna, Austria to his American parents, Jack and Binnie (Rubel) Fuchs. His family returned to the United States in 1937, and Harry grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey where he graduated from Lincoln High School as a track star. Harry graduated from Saint Peter's College with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He married Renee (Goldstein), the love of his life, in 1955. They would have celebrated their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary on April 2nd.
Harry was employed by Western Electric which later became AT&T for his entire career. He initially worked for the company in New Jersey and then moved his family west in 1966 to work in Kansas City. During his successful career, Harry had numerous achievements with the company including fourteen chemical patents.
Harry had many hobbies and interests which included home improvement projects, stamp and coin collecting, and gardening. He was also a member of the MG Club and owned a classic 1960 MGB. Harry and Renee enjoyed traveling throughout the world, spent many summers in Belmar at the Jersey shore and winters in Cancun, Mexico. Harry was a lifetime member of Congregation Beth Shalom, and active in his homeowner's association as president. Harry also enjoyed volunteering at the Brandeis Book Sale, the Meals on Wheels for Senior Citizens and food kitchens.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Renee, son Lonni (Andrea), daughter Lorri Fuchs Coppaken (Howard), and daughter Dayna Fuchs Nussbaum (Steven). Harry treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren Jennifer (Dusty) Hancock, Rachel (Thomas) Ryan, Elizabeth Willens, Morgan Nussbaum, and Brandon Nussbaum. Harry had four great-grandchildren: Brookelyn, Jaxson, and Camden Hancock and Liam Ryan. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Joan) Fuchs.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27 at Mount Moriah Chapel, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his memory to the American Heart Association or the Jewish Community Center Heritage Center of Overland Park, Kansas.
Shiva services will be held Wednesday & Thursday, February 27 & 28 at the home of Lorri and Howard Coppaken, 2901 West 131st Street, Leawood, Kansas at 7:00 pm.
